How to exclude overlapping 'submitted' absence durations from a new absence calculation.

I want to exclude the duration of a submitted absence type from the duration of another absence type when they overlap.

I have written a conversion fast formula to calculate the duration the absence type (Off Duty Leave) to be excluded when the absence type (Compliance Leave) overlaps the Off Duty Leave. The duration is calculate successfuly on the UI as per below screenshot, however, the projected balance is displaying -1, i think its counting the Off Duty Leave duration.
I want to exclude the duration of the Off Duty Leave only and include only the Annual Leave duration:
