Audit Trail of External Data Load in Compensation

Not able to see the audit trail of columns that receive data from External Data load.

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information):

We have mapped say "budget %" column to column 01 in the external data load template. We ticked the checkbox to include this column in the audit trail. however, once the data got loaded into the column or got updated, there is not audit trail in Administer Worker against a person who has the column updated. please could you advise if i have missed any configuration or what is the better way to track the audit trail?
