Bypass mechanism for "Maintenance Page" feature

The Settings > Maintenance feature allows us to enable a maintenance page per site from the Admin UI. However, there is no documented way to bypass this maintenance page for administrators or QA users who need to access the storefront while it is active.

The method mentioned in document KB72211 ( ) uses a USER_BYPASS_MAINT header, but it does not work with this maintenance mode. I believe it refers to the old maintenance mode activated by Support.

Is there a way to skip this maintenance page so admins and QA users can access the site while it is in this mode?
