Can creator of the document able to set who is the approver of the Performance document?

We have a requirement for the creation of Performance documents that allows the creator to select the approver, similar to how the Performance Document Manager is chosen.

Could someone please let me know if there is a way for the document creator to designate the approver of the Performance document?
