How to add icons?

Maybe the answer is right under my nose, but in TBE demonstrations, I have seen candidate icons beside candidate information in their profile.  Such as the candidate (male & female) icon by their name, a phone icon beside the phone number, an envelope icon beside their email address, etc.  How can I go about adding these icons if they are not visible currently?
