Office 2010 x86 and IE8 x86 on Windows 7 x64

Our organization is migrating to Windows 7 (finally).  I have been tasked with app compatiblity.  So far, there have been mostly good results.  There is one annoyance with TBE, however.  When downloading a Word document (a resume, for example) to open, Taleo asks for authentication again as a Windows Security popup.

After scouring the web for an incredibly insane amount of time, I came up with a fix, which is more of a patch on the client side that I don't really want to implement if I don't have to.  The fix was to force Microsoft Word 2010 to run in compatibility mode.  Once doing this, the authentication requests don't pop up again.  I don't want to have to go this route.

Howdy, Stranger!
