TBE 4/13 and 4/14 system outages

Taleo Support just confirmed to me that the upcoming system outages they've announced this Fri/Saturday via Wordpress mean that our candidates cannot apply to our jobs. We are new to TBE/recruit and I find it unbelieveable they impose a 12 hour outage where candidates cannot apply. And the weekend to boot which usually generates more candidate traffic - we are affected by the 4/14 planned outage. Does anyone have advice on how they've handled candidate flow when the system has been down for long periods? Or what the candidate experiences if they do try to apply?
