Failed to Join canidate after hired on Taleo

Would like to know how you all are recording failed to join candidates after they are hired. There is no ability to change step/status once candidate is hired. Please share how are you handling these situations. I was thinking of adding one step under Hired so that recruiter can come back and change it if they are failed to join, but HIRED is last step so there is no way we can change candidate's status once they are hired.

Please share if you have same situations and how you are handling them.
