When does Taleo automatically generate e-mails?

I am disapointed in the ability of Taleo to automatically generate Emails.    I was hoping to automatically trigger emails when for instance an employee is hired.   When a manager hasn’t interviewed a candidate by a specific date, when feedback hasn’t been given by a due date, etc etc.      Can you please tell me which actions in Taleo can automatically trigger e-mails?”
