reporting question - format date and one to many candidates

Hi,

I am having trouble with two different formatting scenarios....

1) I am trying to format a date UDF so that it will appear mm/dd/yyyy. When I try to apply the formula that is provided in current documentation I get an error stating that the field I am trying to format is of the wrong type. I don't know what I can change because that field is of the "date" type. I don't know if this is an issue with the versions of the tools I have (currently have 12C recruiting tool and cl11 reporting tool).

2) The report I am working on brings in requisition and candidate data. For each requisition there may be multiple candidates active in the recruiting process. For those requisitions that have more than one candidate, I only want to see the requisition data once so that the report is much more readable and user friendly that when you glance at the report you can immediatly get a feel for the number of candidates tied to any paticular req (repeating the data means you are going through each row to see if it is a new req). I have been treying
