Updating Candidate info

I just read the feed for the idea of showing specifically what information was changed, and I have a question:

What would be the potential consequences of allowing candidates to update employment information?

If the candidate is coming back after a year or two and has new achievements or has worked a new position that is relevant, they would need to update their personal information, no?
