Issues saving attachments (.doc .docx) with IE 9 and 10

Hi all,
We are having an issue that is slowly making our recruiters lives very frustrating. Some of our recruiters cannot save Word files (.doc and .docx) from candidate files, job submissions, or the requisition. After clicking on the file if they choose ‘Save’ they are shown the IE download manager with the error ‘The file has been moved or deleted’ (similar errors appear in Chrome).
Some other details…
- The converted file link displays the document on a candidate file/submission (but recruiters cannot save this)
- All users are on Win 7, IE 9 or IE 10, and have a varied version of flash (up to the most recent).
