Historical Data in legacy Onboarding

We are in the initial phases of reviewing how to collect historical/archival data out of legacy Onboarding.  Have any other clients currently using legacy Onboarding began looking at options around this?  Is there a way to download and retain docs that may have not been integrated into an imaging system?  Any insight would be appreciated!
