New Reporting Tool: Zip codes treated as different type?

Why does the new reporting tool claim that Zip Codes are number fields? I know the zip code technically only stores numbers, but the delivered field is a 10-character text field. There is no logical reason why the reporting tool should convert zip codes to a data type that drops leading zeroes.

For the record, I discovered this when I created a report using the New Hire Export topic. If there was ever a topic where the zip code should not be converted to a number field, it is that topic.

Howdy, Stranger!
