How to minimize the boxes in the progress bar in the application flow?

We are looking for a configuration to minimize the height of the boxes in the progress bar in the application flow of our Career Sections or if there's a way to remove the box so progress bar will look like a breadcrumb. We don't like the progress bar boxes to take that much space in our Career Section. Any suggestions?
