SSN and DOB invisible?

Hello

Having a problem with a page layout.  The page layout shows the Date of Birth and SSN and Shirt size (obviously confidential information).  The page layout is assigned to the role. There are no filters on the list view.  But when I edit a candidate requisition, the DOB and SSN don't appear for us to add the information.

Any ideas?

Thanks for directing me to the videos, they did help with some of the basic questions I had.
