Why do I get an error when I try to add delegation to a role

Hi

I am investigating using seeded roles as an alternative to a copied custom role. In particular the Employee and Manager roles.

I am working with the Line Manager Abstract role at the moment, one of the requirements that we have is to make the manager role delegatable. However when I check the delegation allowed and try and submit I get an error (screen shot attached), is this specific to the predefined roles, or is their something in the set up of the data role that is incompatible with delegation.
