How to get custom fields in the RSS feed for website

We have a custom field that we want to include in the RSS feed (specifically XML). We were told there was no way to include it - are there other options?Content
We are trying to use a custom field as a search option on our website. Unfortunately, our developer is using the XML code from the RSS feed in his analysis and the custom field is not included in that code, so our searches are not working properly. We were told there is no way to add the custom field to the XML code and our only option is to manually include the values for that field in our job description (or another field that the XML code is showing...).
