Notification to an associate's manager when they apply internally

We are looking to solution using Taleo to create an automatic notification to managers whenever their associate applies to a position.  We currently populate the Employee Manager field on our associates' SmartOrg user accounts but have been unable to find a correspondence template tag for 'Employee Manager.'

Are there any solutions whereby we could notify an associate's manager that they applied to an internal position?
