Internal Profile Turns External, Creating Two External Profiles

When an employee is terminated, their internal profile turns external, but now they have two external profiles.Content
Our internal candidates are imported via TCC. We end up with two candidate profiles - external they used to apply for the job, and internal as a current employee. When they leave, TCC unmarks their internal profile and makes it external. The result of it are two external profiles, one that they cannot use anyway because of the email company address. Has anyone else had a similar situation, and if so, what is the best suggested practice to handle it? Should we merge the two profiles, delete the company external one, or should we take a completely different approach in
