What impacts should we watch for upon updating statuses in an existing CSW?

We are looking to update some statuses in our CSW in hopes that we can better report accurate statuses for candidates.  We have a status of "Proceed to Manager Review" that is a completion status in our New step.  We have explored removing this status as well simply changing the label to "Screening Complete".  We are also exploring adding a required status somewhere before the Offer is drafted to try to get recruiters to review a checklist of items that should be complete before proceeding with the offer.  Does anyone have any tips/experiences for adding/removing/changing statuses in an active Candidate Selection Workflow
