Does HR verify self-assigned life events?

edited Sep 5, 2020 12:10AM in Benefits 10 comments

Summary

Our company requires employees to provide proof of a life event (marriage, birth, etc) - Does anyone else and how do you accommodate via HCM Cloud Benefits?

Content

Our organization requires employees to submit proof of self-assigned life events - I.e. Marriage Life Event requires a marriage license;  Birth of child life event requires birth certificate.  Our HR team would like employees to enter their life event, and make elections, but have the system pend the enrollment until they can verify the enrollment.

We have discussed with our SI and oracle product development, and are hearing we are an anomaly, that other customers are not requesting this capability.    How do others handle self-assigned life events?  Do you just let them go through?  Do you do after the fact audits?  Do you turn off the ability for employees to self-assign life events?
