Using "2ND PASS" vs "RMI"

My organization currently collects basic information during our "initial apply" process. Once a candidate has accepted an offer, they are sent a notification to a link to a "2nd pass" career section where they enter additional information that will go into our HRIS and consent to having a background screening. I am curious to know if other organizations are using "2nd pass" or the "rmi - request more information". It looks like both can be configured with similar blocks so I'm not sure why one is better than the other?
