Who uses the current calendar functionality?

Would like to get some ideas on how this is currently used and if anyone has any suggestions that i may be missing.

We would like to see changes to the current calendar functionality very much. Would like to be able to incorporate self study courses/LP enrollments based on different programs we have going as well as ILT sessions with an opportunity to customize the actual calendar. Maybe this is already possible, but i am not seeing any way to customize the layout etc. We have several programs that are voluntary and would like to be able to incorporate this into those programs but with the current layout it just doesnt fit. Any suggestions on anyone currently using the calendar would be greatly
