Number of Positions - ability to make read only after creation?

I wonder if anyone could advise on the below.

The number of positions field is useful when you have more than 1 position for a vacancy. What we are finding though is that some hiring managers are requesting a vacancy of 1 and afterwards someone else leaves so they edit the vacancy to 2 or more which does not require dynamic approvals.

 

We need an option of:

• Can we make the field read only after creation? If I make it read only it cannot be edited at creation stage
• Can we make the field linked to approvals? So if it is edited the vacancy needs to go for approval again (however this field cannot be shown on emails which is not great - an ER has been raised for this)
