Content Item Description - Competencies - Line Break

Inserting a line break in the content item description (ITEM_DESCRIPTION)

Hey all,

I am currently loading content items via HDL for competencies and my client has descriptions for their competencies that have formatting which require line breaks. I have already tried inserting <br> at each juncture, but HDL and the front-end only read that as text. See attached screenshot.

Does anyone know of a way to at least get line breaks for content item description?

Also, I know people may suggest using Behaviors, but my client has decided they do not want to utilize that functionality.
