Outputting Dates (no timestamp) to Excel and keeping date format

Outputting Dates (no timestamp) to Excel and keeping date format

Content

Good afternoon.

In our BIP reports, we have been removing the timestamp portion from dates (using To_Char in the SQL).  However, when report data is exported to Excel, the result is that the date is no longer a true date which causes issues with sorting (by date) and grouping (by date).  Therefore, we don't have a way to output dates and keep their date format in our Excel reports.  Oracle has acknowledged this problem and there is an open ER, but no estimate for when the issue will be resolved.

Howdy, Stranger!
