Can you remove "Edit Salary Change Request" with a configuration?

Hi Experts,

I am looking to remove the "Edit Salary Change Request" in a Salary Adjustment approval.

I can see that it is possible to hide / disable the field with a customization using edit pages.

Is there another way to remove this link but using a configuration instead? (Removing update access from BPM worklist did not work)
