Refresh Service Request Edit Page without closing the window

I am working on Service Request where a checkbox triggers a process that eventually updates a specific field in the SR currently opened in Edit mode. The update does not reflect in the edit session and upon saving I am prompted with an error: Your changes were not saved to the service request because another user has edited it. Save the service request again to keep your changes. (SVC-5295325).

After the Error has been displayed, the page refreshes, the update is now reflected and I am able to save with no problem.

Is there a way to refresh the edit session to avoid getting the Error message? If so, can anyone enlighten me on how it is done. My prospect client doesn't like the error message.
