Access Shipment history as a REST Endpoint + Accessing archived data

Hi All,

I wanted to know if there's an array or a JSON from which one can get the Shipment History. I know one can access the Shipment history in the endpoints defined here:

But the table data comes as a string and not comfortable to work with. Are there backend\middletier tables accessible?

Also wanted to know if I can access archived data via REST endpoints.
