How to subtotal a field that does work when using "Totals After"

Hello Experts,

I am trying to create a subtotal of a field called "Amount" from "Benefits - Enrollment Real Time" subject area. When I use the function "Totals After" under the "Amount Field" the report creates a sub total for each line on the report, which is not actually giving me a subtotal of all Amounts. When I use the "Totals After" under "Columns and Measures", the system creates subtotals for all measures, but it does not subtotal the "Amount" column. I have attached screenshots showing both case scenarios.
