Windows Compute VM keeps freezing and login password does not work

We have set up a Compute VM running Windows Server 2016 with a custom password assigned to the default account opc. The production web application we have put on the VM has been running fine.

However we've found that from time to time, the web application on the VM would stop responding to requests. Then we tried to access the VM through RDP but the credentials we've been using to log into the VM would stop working saying "username/password is incorrect", and after some tries "The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to" is shown. Then somehow after a while it'd start to work again and we'd be able to log into the VM, only to see that the application is running fine, just that for some reasons it's been frozen for unknown
