API call in javascript of branding file on Onboarding site

Has anyone successfully built an API call within the javascript of the onboarding portal in order to validate data?

For example, we would like to be able to validate bank routing numbers against Accuity and address fields against USPS right there while the new employee is filing out their onboarding form.
