Loading salary history - with correct assignment data

We are trying to load three year's of salary history but want the salary record to take account of grade effective on the date of the salary history, not just the current grade in the assignment. Is there anyway to specify this?

On our loads, and in the application, any salary changes seem to just pull latest assignment information rather than values at the effective date of the salary change.
