Grade Steps and Compa-Ratio

Hello,

I've figured out how to set up grade ladders and steps.  However, after assigning a couple of employees, and when I view their salary, the salary range field and compa-ratio field are blank.  Why it that?

The Oracle video I just watched on the topic wasn't displaying ranges or compa-ratio either.  Is this the way Oracle works?  If not, can someone provide direction on how I can use steps and view compa-ratios at the same time?
