How to differentiate between manager initiated variable task to route for approval or auto approve for HR from "Manage Compensation" page.

We have a requirement to route the variable task approval to line manger if it is initiated from my team. If the same user has access to add the plan from "Manage Compensation" page then it should be auto approved. there is only on module identifier for Manage Compensation and not able to differentiate the transaction.
