Zero Net Pay - no pay date on payslip

We  process off cycle payrolls (not on our standard calendar or on -cycle). Due to the process of an off cycle payroll, we will either have a blank field in the pay date field on the pay slip since there is no place to insert the check date of the off cycle or another process will pick up the check date of the on cycle which is incorrect.  Does anyone have suggestions how to get the correct check date to appear on the payslip? The overriding payment date parameter in the Generate Pay Slip process does not insert or override the
