What is the use of having multiple export paths for a file system?

I am a newbie to File Storage Systems concept. From the docs I understand that, In order to attach file storage system to an instance, we need an export path and mount target.

What is the purpose of having multiple export paths?

Can we use same export path to attach the file system to another instance?
