Is performance a concern with supporting reference balances for 100,000+ journals per day?

We are planning to implement balances with supporting references for a subledger created for an external application and have about 100,000+ journals posting everyday.  The supporting balances are for an about 4 additional transactional attributes and our chart string is 5 segments.  We are looking for experiences around performance when implementing supporting reference balances for such a setup.  

Please let us know if there were any major performance impacts.
