In Depth Report Building Guide

I'm looking for a guide or free resource on report building and editing.Content
I've been building SQL reports for a few weeks now and am looking for resources to take things up a notch.
A couple of the things I would like to be able to do.
- Display a report as HTML as the first option (as opposed to having to change the layout from PDF each time)
- Embed a report in a dashboard on a page in the Security Console (it's a user role matrix)
Even if the above items are not possible our business requirements include a lot of custom reports and any resource helps.
