How To Incorporate Journal Categories Into Approvals

Attempting to enable auto-approval for one journal category while maintaining manual approval for all others

The client requirement is for all Spreadsheet Journals to go through approval except for those that are created with a specific custom Category.

Once Journal Approval for the source has been enabled, the Approval Status for the journals with the custom category is "Validation failed", but journals for the other categories go through the normal approval process.

Is this requirement possible and how can the rule be defined to achieve this?
