How can we deactivate staffing agencies and agents so that we don't lose their referral history on our reports?

We are looking for a way to de-activate a staffing agency and corresponding agents, upon request, but in a way so that we don't loose their history on our reports. What are the methods being used. Any recommendations? We know we can easily delete the agents by hitting trash can in configuration side, but that deletes the associated history from analytics and reporting. We will appreciate if someone can lead us in the right direction so that those agencies do not appear in the selection list for our recruiters, but still is out there on our reports whenever we want
