Entering the plan start date in person management - can't back date

Hi - this is the same request as an older post https://cloudcustomerconnect.oracle.com/posts/b43bfce1c2 - I want to to enter the start date in the past for award compensation.  Going through Person Management - the start date is defaults to today - there must be a way to back date this.
