What does it mean the Drop-down menu in the Competencies section of the person profile?

Hi,

I was wondering the meaning of the dropdown menu that appears in the Competencies sections of the employee's person profile (Me > Career and Performances > Skills and Qualifications), that contains values like "Self", "Resource Manager", "Goal". Is this the source of the competency, I mean, the person who added the competency to the profile/the purpose for which it was added?
