How to upload CC transactions after employee is terminated

Our specific scenario as follows:

  1. Employee incurs corporate card expenses on 1/5/20
  2. Employee is terminated immediately on 1/7/20
  3. Corporate Card file is uploaded on 1/9/20
  4. The transaction does not upload because the employee is inactive.

Is the only workaround to reverse the termination --> upload the file in validate mode -->  re-term the employee?  Am I missing a timing configuration somewhere?
