Removing Courses & Learning Object Manager

Hello, and thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
Background: A number of courses have been expired by our coursework vendor and we need to remove them from the system.
Per the information found on the help site, courses are removed using the Content > Courses menu. I've done this to remove both the SCO courses and the classes from the site. However, when I searched for the courses to confirm they'd been deleted, I found they still showed up in our site.
