Need to create a Free text field

Hello Experts,
We are in need to create a new field on the page, the Flex field isn't available on the page,
Could anyone pls suggest how can we create a mandatory free text Field through customization or any other way, so that users can enter the information in the field?
I have tried to use Notes through Add contents in page composure but it isn't allowing me to write anything in the field.
