adding an exit button to system.list with variable set?

in my use case , we have a few consecutive system.list components which set entity variables . we would like to have a cancel button to go back to main menu along with the entity values so for example if there is pizza size " large , small" i can set the output through label - value combination to large small and menu but i cannot seem to get menu to work as it is trying to set that value to the pizza size , should i add a menu value to the entity ? but this seems more of
