Mass Upload for New Hires

Is it possible to mass load new hires and assign employee ID'sContent
The normal course of events is to hand key new hires but a question came up whether this could be done using a Mass loader in situations where hundreds of employees are to be hired in a short time period.
Is this possible - obviously with assigning of employee ID's as well.
