Inactivating Layouts in Design Studio
Summary
Is there a simple way to "hide" a layout from Design Studio without deleting it?Content
I have a request from our business partners to inactivate a layout on the site because they do not want to make that page accessible or crawled. We could remove all links to the page and add to the robots.txt file, but it feels like there should be an easier way, similar to how you can set a product as "Inactive" on Catalog and it then doesn't show up on the site, even if its associated to a collection.
There are other workarounds that could be possible, if say you have two versions of the same page you could associate one to your site and then the other would not be associated to your site, so the end user only sees the associated one. You could also do something like wrapping the entire page in a content variation slot and then create an audience for that layout that no users could access. These are workarounds, though and his doesn't cover for the scenario of disabling the layout entirely in order to make it available for later use, when ready.
